 Warranty Policies & Requirements

§         Proof of purchase must be provided by the owner, that places the unit within the covered warranty time span.
This proof of purchase only has to be verified by you and does not have to be sent in with the warranty claim.

§         If no proof of purchase is available then check Serial # date code (See serial # location for explanation of
date codes further on in this update) to see if the unit qualifies for warranty coverage.

§         New stock or returned units to a mass merchandiser will be covered with out proof of purchase.
Write “New Stock” in the Date of Sale space on the warranty claim and write the store’s name address
and phone # as the owner on the claim.

§         Bars, chains, trimmer heads, etc are wearing parts and as such cannot be covered under warranty unless you
as the dealer think that they have failed prematurely.

§         Abuse is not covered, but please be sure of your opinion before voicing it to the owner.

§         The respective engine manufacturer (Briggs, Tecumseh, Kohler and Honda) covers the engine warranty
on tractors and lawn mowers.

§         Do not replace the motor on any Electric Unit that is brought in for a warranty repair.  You can replace or
repair everything else on an electric unit, but if the motor is not functioning, then put the unit together and give it
back to the customer.  Have him take it back to the store where he bought it for an Over the Counter exchange
for a new unit.  You can file a claim for your time and Weed Eater will pay you $27.50 (.5 hours) for your time.

§         Craftsman units are covered by Sear’s own Warranty.  Do not file claims for Craftsman product as Sears
has their own Service Depots and Warranty channels.

§         If the owner argues over the fact that the unit is not covered under warranty, please tell him/her why it is not
covered as pleasantly as possible.  If he or she still continues to be upset or if you think that there is a reason
why it should be covered, then please give Ed Rose or George Bishop a call at 1-800-461-9500 and we will
listen to the facts and make a decision on the warranty.  In this way he or she is not upset with you or your company
over the fact that the failure is not covered.
